We are proud to announce that MT Group has officially obtained the construction permit for the modernization and expansion of the Jauniunai Gas Compressor Station in Lithuania.
In collaboration with Amber Grid, we reached this critical milestone in record time: just seven months after signing the €37.4 million EPC contract. This strategic milestone would not be feasible without the synergy between our engineering teams and national institutions.
Why this project matters:
– Green Innovation: we are installing a 5MW electric compressor that operates with zero direct emissions, significantly reducing CO₂ and methane footprints.
– Energy Security: project includes a new 15km high-voltage power line and advanced automation (E&I&C) to enhance the reliability of Lithuania’s gas transmission grid.
– Flexibility: new infrastructure will allow for real-time balancing of gas flows, cutting energy waste and technological losses.
„This construction permit is a significant achievement of the joint efforts between MT Group and Amber Grid teams. The experienced MT Group project team implemented all engineering requirements and obtained the building permit in an exceptionally short timeframe – this is a highly significant step in implementing an energy project of strategic importance to Lithuania. Jauniunai compressor station sets a new standard for innovation, safety, and sustainability within the national energy system,” – Dr. Kristina Norvaišienė, Executive Director at MT Group.
This project joins our growing portfolio of high-value European energy initiatives, alongside the expansion of Brunsbüttel LNG terminal in Germany, green hydrogen stations in Vilnius and Klaipeda (Lithuania), carbon capture project in Denmark and many others.
Now onwards to the construction phase!
