Today, we celebrated the opening of the Rietavas battery energy storage park, marking an important milestone in the project delivered by EPC contractor MT Group.

With a planned capacity of 35 MW / 150.45 MWh, the system will strengthen Lithuania’s electricity grid flexibility and reliability, helping integrate more renewable energy.

MT Group’s €27.8 million EPC contract with Pure Energy Solutions covers engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning.

„The transformation of Lithuania’s energy system requires not only expanding domestic electricity generation but also ensuring sufficient capacity to balance it. The benefits of rapidly developing battery energy storage systems in the region will be felt by every electricity consumer in Lithuania – reducing price spikes and grid balancing costs. Projects such as the Rietavas battery energy storage system are an important part of this process, contributing to the reliable operation of the electricity system across the Baltic region,” said Ignas Junevičius, Vice-Minister of Energy.

“As the EPC contractor, we take responsibility for delivering the entire system, from engineering and equipment supply to construction and commissioning. This project puts our engineering expertise to work in strengthening Lithuania’s electricity system and enabling greater integration of renewable energy,” said Mindaugas Zakaras, CEO of MT Group.

Thank you to our client Pure Energy Solutions for their trust, and to our team and partners for their dedication throughout the project.
